This Cotton Candy Champagne Cocktail is bubbly, sweet, and perfect for parties! Sparkling wine topped with a fluffy cloud of cotton candy makes it a gorgeous festive cocktail ideal for celebrations!
A few years back, I went to a cute English-inspired boutique restaurant in Midtown, Miami, called ‘The Little Hen‘ with a girlfriend for brunch. From their rose petal pancakes to their torched grapefruit, one idea kept coming back to me as inspiration: their cotton candy champagne cocktail!
Hear me out. I know what you’re thinking. How is a dietitian who’s a diabetes educator promoting a Cotton Candy Champagne Cocktail? Food is CELEBRATORY! Do I need to repeat that?! You’ll hear me say this repeatedly if you’ve been around the blog for some time. Food is SO much more than just fuel – it’s cultural, social, celebratory, all combined! But also do not misinterpret and think I’m saying to have this every day. It’s also not what I’m saying!

I see this time and time again with patients with diabetes: the ‘all or none’ approach. While this might be hard to balance and find how to insert foods that bring you joy, it IS imperative to include vs. exclude. The exclusion leads to you wanting that said food and/or drink more and additionally could lead to you having a more significant portion of that food and/or drink the next time you have it versus including it as something normal here and there, which leads to less want. It may be hard to believe, but it is true, and it’s why it’s so important to explore your relationship with food. But now, on to the Cotton Candy Champagne Cocktail!

Ingredients: Cotton Candy Champagne Cocktail
- Sparkling Wine: Choose your favorite bubbly. As there are just two ingredients in this drink, you definitely want to select something that you enjoy. I opted for a pink version to make this drink a little more festive and fun! You could also opt to make it non-alcoholic and choose a sparkling water that has a flavor of choice too!
- Cotton Candy: Any color of cotton candy works. Keep the bag sealed until you’re ready to use it, as it will dry out.
- Garnish: In my picture, I did decorate the rim; however, as this beverage is sweet enough from the cotton candy, it is not a requirement. However, adding some extra edible glitter, which I might suggest, is not optional!
How To Make a Cotton Candy Champagne Cocktail
- Fill each glass with a small handful of cotton candy.
- Slowly pour the champagne over the cotton candy, leaving around one inch of space at the top of the glass.
- Top each glass with a little extra cotton candy, careful not to let the cotton candy touch the drink in the glass.

A Few More Tips
The Cotton Candy Champagne Cocktail is fun all on its own; here are a few more tips for your next celebration to ensure it IS a success!
- Sugar-rim the champagne flutes! Prior to the guests arriving, you can decorate the rim of the glasses. You can take a moistened paper towel and rub it against the rim of the glass, or you could even use just a dab of honey around the rim as well. Dip the moistened glass into a shallow dish of sanding sugar. Choose a color and/or decoration that will go with the color of your cotton candy, or opt for a gold or silver accent color!
- Sealed: The cotton candy must stay sealed until you are ready to use it. If exposed to the elements, it will get hard from sitting out too long or accidentally getting wet. Unfortunately, this is not a drink that can be made ahead.
- Change it up! You might think cotton candy as more summery, but this can be a year-round cocktail. It’s perfect for a bridal shower, baby shower (the mom-to-be can have sparkling water and/or sparkling grape juice), brunch, birthdays, you name it!
- Important: Do not let the cotton candy touch the champagne, or it will dissolve. My instructions are to place the cotton candy in the glass and then have you pour the champagne on top. If you were to fill the glasses with champagne first and try to use a cocktail pick to hold the cotton candy in place, trust me, it’s hard to do! A higher percentage of success is achieved if you use a champagne flute vs. the cocktail glass you see here.
