We’re one week away from the The Big Game! Are you ready for some football? Commercials? Gameday Eats? Or all of the above? Whatever you’re looking forward to, food is always a part of the mix. Enter this easy pico de gallo.- it can be served as is with chips or could even part of a ‘taco bar’. I love a dip that can served in multiple ways. Talk about a perfect dish!
Traditional pico de gallo is chunky (as you can see in the picture above), however, some people are more into a salsa that has been pureed. And there are many different versions, flavors, etc. I’ve never made a pureed version as I do like to have a little texture with my dishes. And I did write a blog on different versions. I highlighted mango salsa , but pretty much any fruit can be used. I’m actually making a citrus one today to pair with my fish this week. I love to be able to bring out the flavors in a dish. If a tomato based pico de gallo isn’t up your alley, maybe a tropical fruit salsa is. Check it out here.
Either way, dips are a must at the Superbowl. Whether it’s’ hummus, ranch, pico de gallo, or all three, snacking is a part of the Superbowl. And rightly so – the game, commercials, halftime, – they go on for what seems like forever. Start planning your menu now. Gameday is only a week away! And make sure you grab the ingredients for this easy homemade pico de gallo. You can thank me later! Who are you rooting for? Tampa Bay or Kansas City?

Tomatoes, Onion, Jalapeño, Cilantro, & Limes. 5 simple ingredients that make up one of the best condiments around! Pico De Gallo isn’t just for tacos!
- Total Time: 5 minutes
- Yield: 2 cups 1x
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup onion, finely diced
- 1 Tbsp jalapeño, finely diced
- 1 Tbsp lime juice
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 large or 2 small tomatoes, diced
- 2 Tbsp cilantro, finely chopped
Instructions
- Combine the onion, jalapeño, lime juice, & salt while you chop the tomatoes and cilantro.
- Add the diced tomatoes and cilantro to the bowl and stir to combine.
- Taste, and add more salt, lime juice, or cilantro if needed.
Notes
* This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled!
*I did measure this to have some preciseness, but feel free to add more or less of what you like. Sometimes raw onion isn’t everyone’s favorite, so add a little less. I might need to puree this and see how it tastes – will report back!

Looks like a perfect ratio to me – and adding more or less spice is all individual! Ready to scoop it right up!
